Apostille

An apostille is a certificate issued under the 1961 Hague Convention that authenticates the signature and seal on a public document. A document bearing an apostille is recognised in all member states of the Convention without further legalisation.

We arrange apostilles for documents issued in Estonia and — through our international network — for documents issued in other countries. You don't need to visit offices or book appointments yourself.

Documents often need both an apostille and a sworn translation. We help you get the order right — whether the apostille goes on the original, on the translation or on both — according to the destination country's requirements.

Under EU Regulation 2016/1191, certain public documents (such as birth and marriage certificates) no longer require an apostille between EU member states. We check before you order whether your document needs one at all, saving you time and money.

Frequently asked questions

Which countries recognise the apostille?

All countries party to the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention — more than 120 of them. If the destination country is not a member, consular legalisation is required instead.

Is the apostille placed on the original or on the translation?

It depends on the destination country and authority. Sometimes the original is enough; sometimes the translation must be apostilled too. We check the requirements before we start.

How long does it take to get an apostille?

For Estonian documents it is usually quick. For documents issued abroad it depends on the country — we give you an exact timeframe with your quote.

Do I need an apostille within the EU?

Not always. Under EU Regulation 2016/1191 the apostille has been abolished between member states for many public documents. We check your case free of charge.

Why aren't prices listed online?
